Available Light

This is my picture from the available light assignment. I have had this nintendo since I was born, and I still have all of my original controllers and games. I have kept up with it for so long and I don't get much use out of it any more so I wanted to take a really good picture of it. I played around for about a week trying to figure out how to light this in the most pleasing way. I went outside in the morning and was able to get some beautiful bokeh in the background, I am pleased with how it turned out.

Framed

This is my second shot from the framing assignment for small format photography. I used my sb-700, and a bounce card to light this. We weren't actually playing beer pong but i liked the way it looked through the cups. Patrick is able to make these shots on command, the only thing i had to get right was the timing.

Star Trails

This is my personal choice for this week. I took this image in the front yard at my dads house in Clayton, North Carolina. I have always loved taking pictures of the stars, but having to shoot at 100 iso limited how long I could have the shutter open even in dark conditions. Being able to take pictures at 50 iso has changed all of that. The shutter was open for over 1,700 seconds, allowing for plenty of rotation in the stars. I like how defined the flare from the streetlight is and how you can still the the Mimosa flowers even in such low light and at such a long exposure.

Light Painting

This photography was taken for our light painting assignment. I tried a few different ideas and i ended up being satisfied with my very last picture. This was rather difficult to create, but in the end it was worth it.

Parks and Recreation

For our Parks and Recreation assignment this week my girlfriend and I went to a park in Indian Train NC to do some hula hooping and practice using my flash for the light painting assignment. It turned out to be quite an adventure and quickly became Parks and Recreational light painting.

Downtown Character

This is our downtown character assignment.

ABC Typography Final

This is the final assignment following the preliminary typography assignment we had last week.

Rule of Thirds

For this assignment, we were instructed to take three pictures that tell a story. I decided to showcase my two passions, driving and photography. These images above feature my car, camera, and customized shift knob. I am pleased with the composition of this picture. I find the focus points, and how both the car and camera are angled towards the shift knob both interesting and pleasing to the eye.

ABC Typography

Our first assignment was an ABC typography assignment where we were instructed to find each letter of the alphabet on signs. I then used Photoshop to layer the pictures into the final image showcased above.
